ATMOSPHERE

ATHMO|SPHERE
The earth has been polluted, the voracious human wish harvested the earth resources leaving nothing but contaminated wastelands. Air unbreathable at surface level obliged us to seek aisle and refuge inside objects from a distant past. Gas Tanks once were a necessary infrastructure of human activity, spread around the globe, standing as an unchangeable typology regardless of where they stood built with a method that allowed them to be located anywhere, a universal form.

This infrastructure is made of steel once able to enclose gas, It has been now repurposed to isolate the new human habitat from the toxic exterior. The sphere volume evokes the memory of the divine concepts that once guided humanity yet extinguished over time, The perforations in the facade represent in the interior the celestial sphere that was long ago hidden by the fog and satellites. The habitat is fed tubes that rise and sink above and below the polluted surface, harvesting clean air, drinkable water, and thermal energy.

The interior is articulated by the garden, this space creates a horizon that splits the sphere. The spaces above, hang from the structure and are attached to it on different levels so these can be separated between features related to domestic life, such as leisure or feeding. Simultaneously, the spaces below are designed to enhance the privacy and restfulness of each room.

The whole sphere acts like a micro atmosphere, a new typology that tries to idealize the long-gone past yet it reminds us of our fragility in the world that we have to take care of.
